About Us

Penguin Pit Stop is proudly owned by Scott & Marsha Hunzeker. They have operated Hunzeker Frameables for the past several years. After selling their products at the Lincoln Haymarket Farmers' Market, local arts & crafts shows and a few retail locations, they decided to pursue a permanent home for their items. In talking with other vendors, it was apparent that there was a need for a place for local businesses to showcase their products. Penguin Pit Stop was created as a year-round outlet for Nebraska-based companies to sell their items in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Several people we've talked to have equated locally made products with handmade. While it is true that some of the items Penguin Pit Stop carries are handmade by individuals, others products come from larger companies. We are not a craft store - we carry a wide selection of packaged food, jewelry, wearables, soaps & lotions, and other gift items. The "theme" is that all of our vendors are based in Nebraska.

You may be wondering, "what's up with the 'penguin' name - what does that have to do with Nebraska?" Right now we're focusing on the retail aspect of Penguin Pit Stop. Our plans are to offer food items in the near future. One of our featured items will be shaved ice. Penguins are associated with ice, thus the name.
